During the next month — March 31-April 28 — city crews will be cleaning the streets, making it necessary that no cars be parked on the street when crews arrive. They will post signs in the blocks to be cleaned at least 24 hours in advance, so be alert for their appearance. While there is a day-by-day schedule for streets east of the Inlet, our West Hill cleaning will be announced only by the appearance of on-street signs.
Below, the city’s press release:
City Begins Annual Street Cleaning Program
On Monday, March 31, 2014, the Department of Public Works will begin their annual street cleaning operations. This work will move throughout the City during the next five weeks. Residents who park on the street should watch for street signs and check on their cars daily from March 31 – April 28, 2014.
If you will be out of town during this time, please make other parking arrangements for your vehicle. People in need of long term parking arrangements can call the City Chamberlain’s Office at (607) 274-6580 to inquire about the availability of long-term parking permits in the parking garages.
Streets will be posted as “No Parking Zones” 24-hours in advance of the cleaning. All vehicles remaining on the street after 7:00 a.m. will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. The standard towing rate in the City of Ithaca is $100 plus sales tax, and storage fees are $25 per day.
The full schedule of the street cleaning program can be found on the City’s website: http://www.egovlink.com/public_documents300/ithaca/published_documents/Clerks_Office/In%20the%20news/2014/2014%20STREET%20CLEANING%20SCHEDULE.pdf
Please note: all work is weather dependent and may be re-scheduled in case of inclement weather.
Questions or concerns about this program can be forwarded to the Streets and Facilities Office at 272-1718.
