Hello West Hill,

FYI: -- I have taken the class and would be more than willing to talk to
anyone who has questions.

NAMI Finger Lakes is presenting Family-to-Family, a program specifically
designed for families and other caregivers of people diagnosed with major
mental illnesses. The free 12-week series of classes will be offered in
Ithaca, beginning February 3 and continuing each Wednesday through April 20,
from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Finger Lakes Independent Center located at
215 Fifth St.

The course will cover information about schizophrenia, the mood disorders
(bipolar disorder and major depression), obsessive compulsive disorder and
personality disorder; coping skills such as handling crisis and relapse;
basic information about medications; listening and communication
techniques; and self-care around worry and stress. The curriculum has been
developed by experienced family members and mental health professionals,
and the course will be taught by NAMI Finger Lakes family members who have
taken intensive training as course instructors.

Parents, siblings, spouses, adult sons and daughters, partners and
significant others who are dealing with persons with severe and persistent
mental illness are encouraged to attend. The course is free but prior
registration and an initial meeting with an instructor are required. For
more information about the Family-to-Family Education Course call 273-2462
or 351-0888 or emailnamifl at hotmail.com.
